Common questions about Bitwarden plans
Is the free Bitwarden plan good enough?
For most people, yes. It stores as many passwords as you like on as many devices as you like, forever, at no cost. You only need Premium if you want the six-digit security codes, emergency access, file storage or the password health checks.
What is 'emergency access'?
You name a trusted person. If you were unwell or passed away, they can ask for access to your passwords. You set a waiting period, and you can refuse the request during that time if you are able to.
Is the Families plan better value than two Premium accounts?
Usually yes. Families is $47.88 a year for six people, while two separate Premium accounts would be $39.60 a year for only two people and with no shared folders.
How much file storage do I get?
Bitwarden's official help pages list 5 GB for Premium, and 5 GB per person plus 5 GB shared on Families. The free plan has none.
