Common questions about SiriusXM plans
Why is my bill higher than the price I was quoted?
SiriusXM adds a U.S. Music Royalty Fee every month on top of the advertised price, as well as sales tax. The fee depends on the package – SiriusXM's own chart shows figures such as about $2.00 a month for All Music and about $5.33 for the older Platinum package. Always ask for the total you will actually be charged.
What happens when my $1 offer or free trial ends?
The price jumps automatically to the standard rate – $11.99 or $25.99 a month depending on the package – and it will keep renewing until you stop it. Write the end date in your diary. If the full price is too much, ringing SiriusXM to cancel very often produces an offer of a much lower rate to stay.
Do I need it in the car, or is the app enough?
If you mostly listen while driving and your car has a SiriusXM radio built in, choose a "Car + App" plan. If you listen at home or you are happy to play your phone through the car by Bluetooth, the App Only plan gives you the full range of channels for $11.99 instead of $25.99.
Does one subscription cover my second car?
No. Each car radio needs its own subscription, although SiriusXM usually discounts the second one. The app is included with a car subscription so you can also listen on your phone.

Plan names verified as current on SiriusXM's own plans and packages pages: 'All Music (Car + App)' $11.99, 'All Access (Car + App)' $25.99, 'All Access (App Only)' $11.99 and 'SiriusXM Sports Pass' $5. The streaming-only plan is NOT called 'Streaming Platinum' or similar - it is simply All Access (App Only). No plan called 'Platinum' appears on the current plans page, but SiriusXM still lists a 'Platinum VIP' offer page at siriusxm.com/offers/platinum-vip and its official Music Royalty Fee chart still shows a 'Platinum Plan', so Platinum survives as a legacy or promotional package for existing subscribers; it was not added as a plan here because no standard price for it could be read. IMPORTANT FOR SHOPPERS: SiriusXM adds a U.S. Music Royalty Fee on top of every advertised price for any package containing music - its official chart lists fees from $0.35 to $7.93 a month depending on package, with a new set of amounts effective 24 February 2026 - so the real monthly cost is always higher than the headline. Every plan is currently advertised with a heavy introductory offer ($1 for 3 months, or one month free for Sports Pass); the figures recorded here are the standard rates that apply afterwards. Add-ons to the All Music plan: Sports $8/month, News $5/month, Talk $5/month.
