Is there a cheaper plan with advertisements?
No. Apple TV has one plan at 14.99 a month and Apple's own programs never carry advertisements.
Can my family use my subscription?
Yes. Up to six family members can share one subscription through Apple's Family Sharing, at no extra cost, and each keeps their own account and viewing history.
Is there a cheaper way to get it?
Apple sells a bundle called Apple One that includes Apple TV along with Apple Music and iCloud storage, starting at 21.95 a month. Buying a new Apple device also usually comes with three months free.
Can I pay for a whole year?
Apple has offered a yearly subscription in the past, but no yearly price is shown on the Apple TV page checked here, so ask Apple or check in Settings before assuming one is available.

The service is now branded simply Apple TV (it was Apple TV+). Only a monthly price of 14.99 is published on Apple's own page; no annual price is shown there, so none is recorded rather than guessed. Apple One bundle pricing starts at 21.95 per month and includes Apple TV; that bundle is not modelled as a plan here. There is also an Apple TV and Peacock bundle announced by Apple and NBCUniversal, starting at 17.99 per month.
