Common questions about Headspace plans

Do I pay monthly or once a year?

Both are offered for the same subscription. Paying once a year always works out cheaper per month, but you hand over the whole amount up front. If you are not sure you will stick with it, start monthly and switch to yearly later.

Is the family plan worth it?

If even two people in your household would use it, almost certainly yes. One payment of $99.99 a year covers up to six people, each with their own private account, whereas two separate subscriptions would usually cost more.

Can I get it free through my employer or health insurance?

Quite possibly. Headspace is provided free by many employers and some health insurers. It is worth asking before you pay – people often subscribe without realizing they already have access.

Is there anything free?

There is a free trial and a small number of free introductory sessions, but the full library needs a paid subscription.

Where this information comes from

Headspace is the clearest 'monthly versus annual' case in this catalogue: the individual subscription is one product with two ways of paying, so it is recorded as a single plan with two prices rather than as two plans. The individual monthly and annual amounts could not be verified - headspace.com/subscriptions renders prices in JavaScript and returned 'null USD' to an automated reader, and Headspace's own help-centre pricing article carries no figures. Both discounted plans were verifiable and are included: Student $9.99/year (verified student status required) and Family $99.99/year for up to 6 people. An Educator's Plan is mentioned by Headspace but no price is published. Headspace is also widely distributed free through employers and health plans, which is often the cheapest route. Buying inside the iPhone app can cost more than buying on the website.
