Common questions about YouTube Premium plans
What is the difference between Premium Lite and the full Premium membership?
Premium Lite is cheaper and takes the advertisements off most ordinary videos. The full membership also removes advertisements from music videos and YouTube Music, and gives better sound and picture options.
Can I share one membership with my family?
Only with the Family membership, which covers up to six people aged 13 or over who live at the same address. The Individual membership is for one person and must not be shared.
Will it remove advertisements the creators read out themselves?
No. It removes the advertisements YouTube plays before and during videos. If the person in the video talks about a sponsor, that stays.
Why can I not see the price for the Family or Student plan here?
YouTube does not publish those prices on a plain page that can be checked automatically. Sign in and visit youtube.com/premium to see exactly what you would pay.

Only the Individual price (13.99 per month) and Premium Lite price (7.99 per month) could be confirmed on official Google or YouTube pages on 2026-09-21. The Family and Student prices are deliberately left as null: youtube.com/premium and its family and student pages return no readable text outside a web browser, and Google's help pages describe those memberships without stating a price. A two-person household plan is also mentioned in Google's help centre but no price is published for it either. YouTube TV is a separate, much dearer live-television service and is not covered here.
